Once a child is given a code to play the game, the child is led through adventurous quests to foreign lands while trying to save another child named “Stone Broke” who’s allowance was taken from him by bullies, leaving him unable to know how to save, spend, invest and share money. It is up to the child to teach Stone Broke these financial skills along the way.
When the child completes the game, the child receives a Certificate of Completion. The Certificate can be presented at the bank for a “reward” of $5 which will be deposited into the child’s Crescent State Bank Junior Savings account. If the child is playing the game at school and saves Stone Broke, the child receives both a Certificate of Completion and a Coupon for $5 which can be used to start off a Junior Savings account.
The Money Island site contains other games to keep the child engaged in financial literacy training and rewards.
